Marvel Cinematic Universe Phase 4 kicked off this year with major series and movie releases. Marvel Studios is packed with action-filled movies for the next few years including the likes of Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness, Thor: Love and Thunder, Black Panther: Wakanda Forever, The Marvels. But now it seems that fans have to wait a little more longer than the confirmed release date to enjoy the projects.
Disney have announced changes in the release dates of the upcoming Marvel movies, shifting down to one release spot. This delay starts with victimizing Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness which is moving from March 25, 2022 to May 6, 2022, which was previously slated for Thor: Love and Thunder. This pushes back the fourth movie of the God of Thunder to July 8, 2022 from its original spot of May 6, 2022.
Black Panther: Wakanda Forever moves from July 8, 2022 to November 11, 2022. This pushes The Marvels to the next year on February 17, 2023 from November 11, 2022. The Ant-Man and the Wasp sequel, Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania will now release on July 28, 2023.
Besides the confirmed movie projects, two untitled Marvel movies which were given release dates of July 28, 2023 and October 6, 2023 have now been totally removed from the schedule. Meanwhile a third untitled Marvel movie has been moved up a week from November 10, 2023 to November 3, 2023.
Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3 is the only movie having confirmed release dates, not being the victim of this delay, which has now a release date of May 5, 2023.
What could be the reason behind this further delay? COVID-19 is seemingly under control right now, and thinking of it to be the reason behind the delays might not be correct. One of the obvious reason could be the growing hype and excitement for DC's The Batman movie. As Doctor Strange sequel was set to release a few weeks after its release, the reason for the delay could be to avoid the clash between other studios' blockbuster.
But it is definitely strange to see two untitled movies getting removed from their release schedule. There are chances that the removal of the slots were to get more time in development, however a third untitled movie still in the slate could hint it to be the long-awaited reboot of The Fantastic Four which has been confirmed by the studios to be in early development.
With the confirmed delay, after the release of Spider-Man: No Way Home, fans will have to wait a long 5 months to get their eyes to a new Marvel movie. What are your thoughts on the delay? What could be the main reason for it? Comment down below and let us know your thoughts!
