Marvel star Dave Bautista has already been on intergalactic adventures in Guardians of the Galaxy Vol 1 and Vol 2, as well as in Avengers: Infinity War and Avengers: Endgame, as the powerful Drax the Destroyer.
And actor Bautista, who's also starred in James Bond movie Spectre, has now secured another space-related role in new sci-fi fantasy blockbuster Universe's Most Wanted, which he will also produce alongside Rampage director Brad Peyton, reports Deadline.
Universe's Most Wanted is set in an ordinary small town, which gets a huge bolt from the blue when a spaceship carrying the most dangerous criminals in the universe crash lands there. The town sheriff's son becomes an unlikely hero when he teams up with an intergalactic peacekeeper (Bautista) to prevent the alien prisoners from escaping and taking over and ruling the entire world.
Peyton will both direct and produce the movie through his production company ASAP Entertainment with Jeff Fierson, while Bautista will also produce via his own production company Dream Bros Entertainment alongside Jonathan Meisner. The script is being written by xXx: Return of Xander Cage writer F Scott Frazier and Jimmy Loweree.
Peyton said that he is "incredibly excited" about the movie, saying: "Scott and Jimmy are terrific writers and have conceived of the perfect sci fi tentpole that fits perfectly into ASAP's brand and my directing sensibilities.
"We couldn't be more thrilled to get going on Universe's Most Wanted. This is the type of fun, mysterious and irreverent adventure we all need right now."
Casting is in underway for other roles in the movie, which is due to go into production in spring 2021.
