Warner Bros. launched Shazam! franchise in 2019 to set an example that DCEU is going forward with a different tone. It didn't take long for talks about a sequel of the fun hero to begin, with director David F. Sandberg returning.
Plot details are still being kept under wrap but previous leaks revealed that the sequel will introduce two new goddesses, Kalypso and Hespera, played by Lucy Liu and Helen Mirren respectively. Though there have been no reports of the start of production of the sequel, but it seems the lead actor of the movie has shared an important update.
In an Instagram post, Shazam! lead actor Zachary Levi revealed that he has landed on Atalanta, surely for the filming of Shazam! sequel, Shazam! Fury of the Gods.
This latest update could hint that the preparation for production and filming is starting soon or is underway. Though the sequel has a release date of June 2023, filming beginning so soon isn't quite abnormal, as Zachary Levi previously pointed out that the kids are growing fast.
With so much time left for the sequel, it seems the director and his team have quite a good amount of time on their hands to craft the best story centered the superheroes for the fans to experience.
Shazam! sequel, Shazam! Fury of the Gods is set to premiere at big screens on June 2, 2023.
