The Falcon and the Winter Soldier: Director teases "non-human" villains

With less than a week to go for the premiere of The Falcon and the Winter Soldier, Marvel Studios are hyping it up by releasing more clips from the show. The show will include a number of familiar faces like Sebastian Stan (Winter Soldier/Bucky), Anthony Mackie (Falcon/Sam Wilson), Emily VanCamp (Sharon Carter) and Daniel Brühl (Baron Zemo) with a bunch of new ones.

In an interview with The Direct, director Kari Skogland discussed more about the show promising fans more time in the show to understand the villains.

Well, like with anything you have you cherry-pick how much time you're going to spend with them. I think also villains in general have a big concept behind them. What I do love is that in all of the cases we're able to spend a little bit more time with them and get to know them and understand them a bit better.

He also teased that some of the antagonists could be non-human.

So as humans, or not humans as the case may be, whatever, we understand their motives a bit more.

According to Skogland, getting some moments with them will allow them to be more intriguing as characters.

That makes for nuanced, and I'd like to say trickier grey zones. No one's all bad, but no one's all good. So it's the exploration of where that takes you.

So, non-human adversaries? Now this "not human" tease was from a quote of Sam Wilson from a TV spot where he mentioned the Big Three which includes Androids, Aliens and Wizards. He also mentioned their use of brute force. Considering how Marvel Studios is trying to diversify them into the MCU, fans may think that the not human could be some Skrull impostor. It is for sure that MCU will highly depend on Secret Invasion story-line as a project for that is confirmed already. But it could also be a whole new different character or anything else.

But the way director Skogland talked about intimate looks at the villains, it seems we will get yet another adversary of a background understandable point of view.

The Falcon and the Winter Soldier premieres this Friday, March 19, streaming exclusively on Disney+.
