The Story-view
Starting with some action from Falcon, trying to fight criminal organization LAF, rescues Captain Vasant. Batroc, last seen on Captain America: The Winter Soldier, returns in MCU as the leader of the hijackers. And the Flag Smashers are revealed to Sam by his new buddy, 1st Lt. Torres, possibly Joaquin Torres. We also see some high-voltage scenes of the Flag Smashers robbing and using brutal force later on, proving that going against them won't be so easy. Sam donating Captain America's Shield to Captain America Exhibit which he thought to be "the right decision", regrets as we see in the end that the shield was given to a new member, possibly a man under the hands of government.
On the other side, Bucky Barnes is trying to live a lonely life, with nightmares of the bloodshed he was into. He is seen ignoring Sam's messages and it seems he has been visiting a psychiatrist. The Sam and Bucky duo hasn't been shown till now, as we see stories from two different places. Not to forget, we also got a cameo of Rhodey (War Machine).
Ending
Sam struggling to fulfill Captain America's legacy donates the shield to Captain America's Exhibit, which we see, later on falls on an unworthy government representative, John Walker (US Agent). Show head-writer already stated that Sam being a black man will be highly recognized in the show as the scenes reflect. The state is not willing to see a black Captain America. As a result, through lies, the Shield is taken from him and given to a white person. We could see the anger inside him reflecting the scene while watching the news and it definitely will explore more in the upcoming episode.
Final Verdict
We only get a small knowledge about the villain group, The Flag Smashers, but the scenes definitely hint towards the Super-Soldier serum existing in the present MCU. With everything considered, the show starts off strong with beautiful character observations in the long run-time. The episode takes its time to establish the stories of Sam and Bucky which will prepare them for the journey ahead. With great cinematography at the start and perfect ending cliffhanger, the second Marvel Disney+ show is off to a great start.
