WandaVision Ep. 1 & 2: Review and Important Details Explained! (SPOILERS)

The very first Marvel's Disney+ show WandaVision has finally arrived! The first two episodes of the show aired today which showed a rather unusual type of beginning comparing to Marvel Studios' other projects.

Fans are really confused on what the show is trying to base on as the first two episodes are unlike anything we've ever seen.

SPOILERS AHEAD! STOP READING IF YOU HAVEN'T WATCHED THE FIRST TWO EPISODES!

Episode 1

The Story-view

The first episode is set in 1950s with Wanda trying to live her life with Vision in a classic 50s way. There are all kinds of classic humors, laugh tracks and costumes from that time period. The episode is absolutely different and it gives us no idea about where the show is going and why, but one thing is sure that something is off, as Wanda and Vision have no memories of anything. The chemistry between Wanda and Vision is remarkable and heart-touching, hats off to the stars. Between the episode, we see a commercial of a toaster from Stark Industries. There is also a commercial in Episode 2, so it can be said that the commercials in every episodes might prove to be important for the plot of the show.

The Notable Characters

Wanda Maximoff, Vision, Agnes, Mr. Hart (Vision's Boss) and Mrs. Hart, Norm and Jones (Colleagues of Vision). The actors portrayed their respective characters very well specially our two leads, Paul Bettany and Elizabeth Olsen. Also it seems like the side characters have a bigger role to play in the story than speculated before.

Ending

At the end of the episode, we see that the whole episode was played in a screen in a room which is actually SWORD Headquarters. The sign of the sword near it proves that SWORD is in this show and could actually play an important, plot-twisting role in the upcoming episodes.

Major Details

Not many major details spotted but the commercial in the middle of the episode is worth mentioning. If you rewatch that commercial, when the Stark Industries' Toaster was activated, it made a faint sound quite similar to the hand energy blaster noise of Tony Stark's Iron-Man suit. Also the ticking noise in the toaster could refer to the industries moving to weaponry in near future which was noticed in Iron-Man movie. Moreover the advertisement is a nod to Tom Kings Vision run where Vision was nicknamed Toaster by Wanda.

Final Verdict

As the first episode of a show, it was not so bad, but for many of you, who wanted to get a tease to the big Phase 4 of MCU didn't get the satisfaction you wanted. But as it is the first episode, it is actually normal to elaborate and bring up the warming scene of the show. But this is to be noted that the presence of SWORD was the only thing teased in this episode. I wouldn't say that this episode was "total filler", but it would be totally understandable if some fans found this a little uninteresting.

Rating: 7/10

Episode 2

The Story-view

The second episode is set in the 1960s and shows Wanda trying to fit in the local community. A magic show by them put in the talent show was interesting as well as its narrative. This episode paved the path towards the main plot and the mysteries are slowly getting understandable. There is an overall feeling that they are being watched by someone as Wanda finds a "colorful" helicopter with a SWORD logo in the bush. We see Wanda bonding with other neighbors and some fun shots of Vision in the public library. We also see the most important part in the end which potentially will play an important role in explaining the further mysteries in the show.

The Notable Characters

Wanda Maximoff, Vision, Agnes, Dottie, Geraldine (possibly a fake name as she would play the role of Monica Rambeau).

The Ending

We see a mystery man coming out from a manhole, bees swarming, looking at Wanda and Vision. This scene is a bit confusing as we see Wanda seeming to recognize who he is or who he is from as she says "No" and then uses her powers to rewind and bring back themselves to their previous act in the episode like nothing nothing happened. These rewinds were seen in lots of shots in the trailers and TV Spots, and so it can be said that we could see more of this power or reality rewindings in future episodes.

Major Details

Similar to the first episode, we see a commercial yet again in the middle of the episode. This bit was actually mind-blowing if you know what this refers. This Strucker Watch commercial refers to the character Strucker, who was the lead who took Wanda Maximoff and her brother Pietro Maximoff from Sokovia and made them the experiment vessels of superpowers in order to defeat the Avengers. The Strucker Watch used the motto "Strucker. He'll make time for you." refering to Strucker taking them in and giving them powers by using his valuable time. Also if you notice carefully, you will also see a HYDRA logo in the watch.

In another scene, during the meeting with Dottie, she says, "The devil's in the details, Bev." On the very next shot, Agnes whispers to Wanda, "That's not the only place he is." The whole scene was covered with laughter tracks to avoid the double-meaning of this sentence but this could actually hint to The Devil, Mephisto and Agnes being Agatha Harkness, a powerful witch. So, we might actually get a scene of Mephisto in future episodes.

Final Verdict

This second episode leads to further mysteries and the show is slowly getting to the center of the plot. Comparing with episode one, this episode was more narrative and understanding and also discovered a lot of scenes from the community. As we see, the more we get episodes, we get more information and also get closer to the main plot. Episode 2 is the living example that episode by episode the show will get a lot stranger and understanding, the way fans had wanted the show to be as they tease and pave their path over Phase 4 of MCU.

Rating: 8/10

The first two episodes are laying the foundation of the show and giving us time to experience the world or reality Wanda and Vision are living. Overall, it's a strong start and very addicting. All I can say is, it's good to see some Marvel content after so many days and I am very excited to see what happens next.
