Tom Holland's Spider-Man 3 has been the major subject of discussion among MCU fans lately due to a wide array of multiverse-fueled speculations. The throng of theories started when news broke that Jamie Foxx will return as Electro in the threequel. After the report, Foxx confirmed his involvement while also sharing fan art which revolved around a Spider-verse concept, adding fuel that the next adventure of the web-slinger will involve the multiverse.
As expected, fans took to social media to share their excitement about a potential crossover team-up, but it was all speculation at that point. However, that all changed when more shocking news broke, confirming that Benedict Cumberbatch's Doctor Strange will appear in a "mentor role"(which Tony Stark played in Peter Parker's life in his journey of Spiderman) for the third installment of the MCU's Spider-Man franchise.
Additionally, even Vincent D'Onofrio has thrown his hat into the Spider-Man 3 ring, seemingly hinting that he is interested in reprising the role of Wilson Fisk a.k.a. Kingpin if Marvel Studios wants him to. Not only that, previous rumors suggest Tom Hardy's Venom having an involvement in Tom Holland's Spider Man.
And now, there has been a string of rumors on social media potentially teasing the involvement of notable actors from the previous Spider-Man franchise from Sony.
**Spoiler Alert If The Supposed Rumors Actually Becomes True**
Multiple sources have revealed reports that Tobey Maguire and Andrew Garfield could potentially be involved in Tom Holland's Spider-Man 3.
First off, FandomWire shared in a report that Maguire and Garfield "have signed on to reprise their respective Spider-Man roles."
On a separate note, KC Walsh, editor-in-chief of Geeks Worldwide, revealed that the duo have not signed a deal yet, but "[Kevin] Feige is interested:"

Meanwhile, YouTuber Grace Randolph also addressed the Spider-Man 3 rumor by sharing that both actors have been "in talks for a while," also mentioning that no deal "has been signed yet:"

For starters, it's easy to assume that the plot of Spider-Man 3 could be the MCU's version of the Spider-Verse, especially after the reveal that Doctor Strange will join Peter Parker's next adventure. While fans should take all of these rumors with a huge grain of salt given that this info comes from sources which are not official, it's not hard to recognize that Marvel Studios is potentially setting up a full-blown crossover that could have a full on massive effect on the MCU franchise.
It's clear that the multiverse is the next big story concept that the MCU will dive into, and it seems that Spider-Man is next in line to lean into that narrative. However, it could create a problem for Spider-Man 3 which will result in focusing less on the identity crisis issue that Peter is facing in the threequel, and instead realign the attention to the long list of guest stars that the film will feature.
On the other hand, considering the previous Sony-MCU deal, there's a possible chance that the reason behind Maguire and Garfield's involvement is that this could be the potential last hurrah for Holland's version in the MCU. This might be true if no new deal will be made to extend Holland's MCU stay. If this is indeed the last film outing for Holland as the web-slinger, it would make sense for Marvel Studios CCO Kevin Feige to bring out the "big guns" in the form of Maguire and Garfield to finish it off with an amazing run in the franchise.
