Marvel is actually in talks to have Tobey Maguire in Doctor Strange 2 says Industry Insider

The Original Spider Man Trilogy is a classical piece of art. We grew up with that movie. And that movie was envisioned and directed by none other than Sam Raimi. And now the new Doctor Strange movie, which is titled "Doctor Strange In The Multiverse Of Madness", is going to be directed by Sam Raimi.

This article is gonna cover the rumors and speculations regarding Tobey Maguire in the MCU and more likely in the new Dr. Strange movie. So a big Spoiler Warning before dive deeper into the topic.

The famous Marvel scooper, Mickey Sutton, who accurately kept us updated with information during Sony-Disney conflict about Spider-Man last year, said that Marvel studios was in talks to include Tobey in Dr. Strange 2. He further added that there had been private talks but no negotiations yet with Maguire about returning as Spiderman  in Doctor Strange 2.

Discussions are ongoing between Sony and Disney about Tobey Maguire and Andrew Garfield teaming up with Tom Holland's Peter Parker in a live action Spider Verse Movie. However, this is not how the plan is envisioned right now. The plan that is envisioned by Sam Raimi is a final goodbye to his original Spider Man movie. Yes, and Endgame to the Original Trilogy. It's been talked right now Tobey Maguire's Spider Man could die in Dr. Stranger In The  Multiverse Of Madness. And thus the final goodbye to the character.

We have seen Sam Raimi talked about the connections between the original Spider Man films and Dr. Strange. Before all this Cinematic Universe existed, in Spider Man 2, Sam Raimi actually dropped the name Dr. Strange. And recently, he has said if he would have known that he was directing Dr. Strange he would have made more connections between the movies. But now he can actually finalize his wish as he is directing Dr. Strange which is not only a MCU film but the movie is about Multiverse.

This gives him the chance to bring any or all characters if he desired into the film. Do keep in mind they already bought back J. Jonah Jameson in the MCU which is played by none other than JK Simmons, who played the character of Jameson in the original trilogy. Now that they have bought him to the MCU it's in their wheelhouse to bring Tobey Maguire in The Multiverse Of Madness. Sam Raimi is looking for an official goodbye for his Spider Man character and this is a chance worth taking to do so. If it is the end for Tobey's Spider-Man than we might not get the 3 live action Spider-Men interact with each other. But do take this report with a grain of salt as nothing is confirmed yet.

Let me know about your thoughts about Tobey Maguire returning as Spiderman in the MCU in the comments section. Till then Goodbye!
