Xiaomi launches Mi TV stick with 1080p support

Xiaomi recently launched their first Android TV dongle branching out from Android TV boxes. Xiaomi released it in their ecosystem product launch event.

Specs and features
  • The dongle is powered by a quad-core Cortex-A53 processor clocked at up to 2.0GHz, an ARM Mali-450 GPU.
  • It has 1GB RAM and 8GB eMMC storage.
  • It comes with built-in Chromecast support, Dolby Audio and DTS Surround Sound experience.
  • It only supports content upto 1080p resolution at 60fps.
  • The dongle is bundled with a Bluetooth 4.2 remote which has dedicated buttons for Google Assistant, Netflix and Amazon Prime.

Price and Availability

Mi TV stick is priced at 39.99 euros(around 46 dollars or 3,875 taka). The tech giant is yet to disclose its availability details.

Final Verdict

Mi TV stick is aimed to compete with Roku and Amazon Fire Stick. Though the price of the stick is not much, the lack of 4K support can be a deal breaker for many users. Google Chromecast Ultra is probably a better alternative if you want to turn your 4K TV into a smart TV without breaking the bank. But if you happen to live in a country where 4K content are rarely produced or you don't mind 1080p resolution, Mi TV stick can be a good option for you.
