"The Umbrella Academy" season 2 release date has been set for Netflix this summer, with the cast of the comic-based superhero franchise appearing in a quarantine videoconference teaser to pitch the show’s upcoming return.
The dysfunctional-family superheroes will return with a new set of adventures on July 31, 2020, on Netflix worldwide. This live action series is adapted from the comic book series "Umbrella Academy" which created and written by Gerard Way and illustrated by Gabriel Bá, published by Dark Horse Comics.
The Umbrella Academy” stars Ellen Page, Mary J. Blige, Cameron Britton, Tom Hopper, David Castañeda, Emmy Raver-Lampman, Robert Sheehan, Aidan Gallagher, Colm Feore, Adam Godley, John Magaro, Ashley Madekwe and Kate Walsh.
Joining the show in season 2 we will see Ritu Arya, Yusuf Gatewood and Marin Ireland.
In the Netflix adaptation, six are adopted by billionaire Reginald Hargreeves (aka “The Monocle”), who creates the Umbrella Academy and preps his “children” to save the world: Vanya/The White Violin (Ellen Page), Luther/Spaceboy (Tom Hopper), Diego/The Kraken (David Castañeda), Allison/The Rumor (Emmy Raver-Lampman), Klaus/The Séance (Robert Sheehan) and Number Five/The Boy (Aidan Gallagher). In the adaptation we see Number 5 came from the future to warn his siblings for the impending apocalypse. We finally got to see Number 7/ Vanya has powers too and that was hidden from her. Due to that she started the apocalypse and the siblings neutralized Vanya and together went to another timeline.
