Draco almost had a better redemption in Deathly Hallows

Harry Potter And The Deathly Hallows Part-2 saw the redemption of some characters and glimpses of a good heart in others. Over the course of seven novels, J.K. Rowling introduced readers to the Wizarding World through the story of Harry Potter, a.k.a. “the boy who lived” and the darkest wizard of all, Lord Voldemort.

The Harry Potter Book Series was published from 1997 to 2007 but it didn't take to be adapted in the big screens as the Harry Potter And The Philosopher 's Stone had its adaptation as The Sorcerer's Stone in 2001. Since then every part of the book had been adapted and the series finally ended in 2011 with the end of Harry Potter And The Deathly Hallows Part-2. As it happens with all books adapted to film, many details, characters, and events were either omitted or changed, while some others were added to the stories – but not all of them made it to the final cut.

Such is the case of a particular scene in Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows - Part 2, which added to the moment of redemption Draco Malfoy wasn’t given in the books, but the crew behind the film ultimately decided not to add it, which probably wasn’t the wisest idea.

Even though Draco wasn't fully convinced, he was on the side of the Death Eaters at the Battle Of Hogwarts. But after when Harry revealed he is alive and got ready to fight we see The Malfoys run away from there and that was the last time we say Draco until he appeared one final time at the epilogue of the movie, many years later. Draco could have had his big moment in Deathly Hallows 2 in a deleted scene that showed him finally standing up for himself and leaving the Death Eaters behind.

The scene that has been deleted from the movie, which was released back in the years in the internet showed Draco realizing he is on the wrong side of the battle and he helped Harry. Draco leaves his family and the Death Eaters and runs to join Harry’s side, and even tosses him his wand to help him defeat Voldemort. His parents, on the other hand, continue to be overcome by fear and stay on Voldemort’s side.  Even if Draco wasn’t seen again until the epilogue scene, this would have established his redemption and made it a bit clearer for those not familiar with the Harry Potter books. On the contrary, this scene was a bit out of character for Draco Malfoy so possibly this was a better idea to not add this scene in the movie.

In the end, we won't deny that this movie is one of the greatest movies ever made. But it's up to to the fans to decide whether or not this scene should have made the final cut.
