It is expected that every new phone would have the latest and greatest processor. But that apparently is not the case with the Google Pixel 5. According to rumours Pixel 5 may use Snapdragon 765G instead of Snapdragon 865. Snapdragon 865 is used in Galaxy S20 and we can expect many phones this year with that processor.
One of the bigger advantages of the Snapdragon 765G is that it contains an integrated 5G modem which the 865 does not. Though it may not be as fast as 865, it still is much capable.
Moreover Snapdragon 765G is less expensive which suggests that Pixel 5 may be a premium mid ranger. That makes total sense. All four Pixel flagship devices didn't sell well. But Pixel 3a,the budget device from Google performed well. So, it would make total sense if Google releases a premium mid ranger at around 600-700$.
Pixel 5 is expected to launch on the final quarter of the year, most probably in October.
