Top 10 moments in Flower of Evil

You think everything looks good on the outside but you're struggling on the inside. A successful metal craftsman living with his wife and his daughter in a quaint neighborhood, performing his duties quietly as a husband and a father. Well except for the fact that, the quaint guy has another identity which no one knows about and things starting to take a dark turn as his wife who is a homicidal detective begins to investigate a string of grisly murders in town. The more she digs, the more she is confronted with the reality that her sweet husband is keeping more than a few secrets from her, including his cruel past and his true identity.

Flower of Evil or Agui Kkot is a crime thriller show revolving around the life of Do Hyun Su(Lee Joon Gi) and Cha Ji Won(Moon Chae Won). Directed by Kim Cheol Kyu, this show is juxtaposed with tantalizing visuals and hauntingly beautiful scores and emotional OSTs. Riveting, dark, and fun with bite-your-nails suspense, Flower of Evil is totally worth the watch. With a killer body invasion horror it's fast-paced and intriguing from the get-go, sucking you in with a great balance of action, family love, and romance, strong characters, and twists and turns you won't see coming. After all, everything always looks perfect from the outside.

We have gathered some of the best moments from this amazing show. Though it is based on our opinion we tried to be as subjective as possible. That being said let's dive into the ranking.

10. The Betrayal

In episode 11 we saw Do Hyun Soo worked indirectly with the detectives as he tipped them off about the deal he and Yeom Sang Cheol struck to find out Do Min Seok 's accomplice. Hyun Soo took te money for the deal from his father Baek Man Woo(Son Jong Hak). Everything was going according to the plan when another client of Yeom Sang Cheol whom we found to be Baek Man Woo called and told him to kill Hyun Soo as he was working with the police and ultimately betrayed him. Man Woo offered double the money to kill off his so-called son to remove an obstacle from his real son's life.

09. Choi Jae Sub helping Cha Ji Won

We saw another twist of turn in episode 11 when Detective Choi Jae Sub (Choi Young Joon) found out the truth about who Do Hyun Soo really is. Angered and frustrated about the fact that his own colleague was hiding the truth from the whole team, he confronted Ji Won. When Ji Won finally told how she got to know and why she kept it a secret, Jae Sub was equally angry as he was but somewhat conflicted. He kept Ji Won's secret from the rest of the team but said he will arrest his husband the next day. After capturing the trafficking ring Ji Won had some well earned time with his husband and said that Jae-sub will come tomorrow to arrest him. But as the story progressed we saw Jae Sub had a change of heart and didn't arrest Hyun Soo and kept Ji Won's secret.

08. A friend in need is a friend indeed

After Man Woo's betrayal Yeom Sang Cheol and his man captured Hyun Soo and beat him to a pulp to kill him. Kim Moo Jin(Seo Hyun Woo) who accompanied Do Hyun Soo if anything goes awry which it did helped Hyun Soo when he distracted Yeom Sang Cheol and his man. The help was somewhat fruitful when Moo Jin went live on his social media which helped the police to know where they were. Throughout the whole season we got to see some conflicting tensions between Kim Moo Jin and Do Hyun Soo who had a frenemies type of relationship. But as we know in time of need he helped his friend.

Before we continue more on our list we also want to point out the father-daughter moments of Baek Eun Ha(Jung Seo Yeon) and Do Hyun Soon. Seeing them together doing their own little things was the relief we got from this fast paced full of twists and turns which we know as the Flower of Evil. The innocence of Eun-ha mixed with the quirky and witty attitude of his dad Hyue Sun was full of adorableness and bliss for the viewers.

07. Do Hae Soo being the killer

From the very beginning of the show the audiences got the view that Do Hyun Soo was partially responsible for his dad Do Min Seok's killings. Hyun Soo was a fleed criminal wanted for the murder of his village's foreman. But as the story continue to unravel its secrets we found out that Do Hyun Soo's sister Do Hae Soo(Jang Hee Jin)was the one who killed the village foreman in an act of self-defense. Hyun Soo was the first person to witness this and as a good brother he is, he took the blame on himself smearing the blood on him, removing his sister's fingerprints from the weapon so that she can live her life without any hassle as Hyun Soo didn't care about people's opinions.

06. Jeong Mi Seok being alive

Probably one of the biggest turn of events happened in the latter part of the show when we found out that the last victim of Do Min Seok's mayhem, Jeong Mi Seok was actually alive and was rehabbing on a mental asylum. We saw her in the beginning that she was abducted by Do Min Seok's accomplice and was never to be seen or heard again. In the climatic episodes we saw Yeom Sang Cheol taking her with him to get the upper hand on Baek's family.

05. The Shoulder Tap from Ji Won

Possibly one of the most emotional scenes in the show was when Do Hyun Soo and Cha Ji Won had a heart to heart conversation full of affirmations in the afterlife. After the conversation Ji Won told Hyun Soo to rest now and comforted Hyue Sun with shoulder taps connecting to the very beginning of the show when Hyun Soo comforted Ji Won when she was stressed about the serial murder case of Do Min Seok.

Again we have come to a halt on our list to point out some of the honorable mentions. As this list is coming to an end there's a lot of things that we have missed in till now. So in this honourable mention we are going to mention some of them.

* The Kangsoo Police Station's Detectives

The Kangsoo Police Station's Detectives having Cha Ji Won, Choi Jae Sub, Lee Woo Cheol(Choi Dae Hoon), Im Ho Joon(Kim Soo Oh) and Yoon Sang Pil(Lim Chul Hyung) were an integral part of the show as some way or another everything was connected with the detectives as they were the one to solve all the cases we saw on the show specially the serial murder case of Do Min Seok which was reopened after a long time. Moreover the sudden comedic relief this group induced was a beloved moment we needed to take a break from the all the chaos that was revolving around them.

*The Reunion

Probably the moment we all had been waiting for after we saw Do Hae Soo was the brother-sister reunion between her and Do Hyun Soo. In episode 8 we finally saw the bittersweet reunion between the two siblings as they hugged it out, reminiscing the sweet yet sour childhood they had which was equally sad and wholesome.

*Kim Moo Jin's conversation with Baek Man Woo

As the drama nears its end, Kim Moo Jin continues to become a standout character. After hearing the results of Hae Soo’s emergency surgery, he wastes no time to confront the Baek family for the volunteer list that Hae Soo asked for. During his time at their home, Ji Won calls and tells him that they’re the accomplices of Baek Hee Sung. Overcome with rage, he demands to see where their son is. As he’s leaving their home, Baek Man Woo threatens him with a syringe. Mu Jin admits that he knows exactly how Man Woo must be feeling since when he was younger he found one of Do Min Seok’s (Choi Byung Mo) victims in the basement but told himself it was an elk for years. He tells Man Woo that like himself, he chose to turn a blind eye to his son’s true nature. This scene is both chilling and surprising. Given the Baek family’s track record, Mu Jin easily could have become a victim here. However, the way he confronts Man Woo is courageous. His admission to his past interaction with Do Min Seok really puts his previous actions in perspective and finally shows him taking full responsibility for his mistakes. This moment sparks insight into why both Hee Sung’s parents covered up his crimes and how desperate they were for him to change. It’s downright heartbreaking.

04. The Confrontation

After seeing Hee Sung get a lead on Hyun Soo by framing him for murder, viewers could only wait and see how Hyun Soo tipped the scales. And after laying down the trap Hyun Soo lurked in the dark for his bait to fall for it which it did as Hee Sung came for Jeong Mi Seok and then we finally saw te confrontation we wanted to see for a long time. After discovering that Hee Sung murdered Ji Won, Hyun Soo loses all sense of rational thought. He’s out of breath, teary-eyed, and vengeful. As his emotions overpower him, he tells Jeong Mi Seok (Han Soo Yeon) to call the police and report that he murdered someone. Then he continues to describe how he plans to kill Hee Sung, and the smirk on Hee Sung’s face quickly falls and turns into a fearful expression. Lee Joon Gi’s acting in this scene is indescribable. The way he channels his sadness into vengeance is absolutely awe-worthy.

03. The MOMENT we all had been waiting for

Is there anything better than cinematic parallels? Fans were reeling when Ji Won overheard Hyun Soo telling his sister that he never loved her. Towards the end of episode 11, Ji Won and Hyun Soo are talking in their bed. As they go over Hyun Soo’s memories and other details, Ji Won also admits that she heard him speaking with Hae Soo at the abandoned building. Hyun Soo begins to cry again although he admits that he doesn’t understand why he is crying. Ji Won explains to him that she knows he’s crying because he loves her. Hyun Soo then boldly tells her that he loves her and kisses the back of her hand, connecting to the scene in the eighth episode where he didn’t admit his feelings.

Then, there’s the call back to the previous scene. It’s such a tasteful and wholesome way to show Hyun Soo’s character development and how much he loves Ji Won. When she admitted to overhearing his earlier confession, you can tell he immediately understood why she asked if she loved him that same night. He already apologized to her, but he takes it a step further and takes action to reassure her how much he adores her.

02. The Ultimate Sacrifice

After catching the peeping tom at her apartment, Hae Soo waits at the police station while the investigation is being conducted. While she’s waiting, she sits at the same table as Eun Ha who inquires about her identity. Later on, Ji Won sends Eun Ha home with Hae Soo until the murder case is solved. Hae Soo promises that she will protect Eun Ha and later fulfills this promise when Baek Hee Sung (Kim Ji Hoon) confronts them in Ji Won’s home. Do Hae Soo instructed Eun Ha to open the door when her mother arrives and then stood face to face with Hee Sung. After leading such a lonely life, these scenes feel like a turning point for Hae Soo. She is finally able to repay her brother back for taking the blame for the village foreman’s murder by protecting his family. Joy, excitement, and pure desolation are just a few of the feelings that viewers will feel when they watch the scene unfolds.

01. Love Is What Makes People

After chasing Hee Sung through the woods, Hyun Soo catches up to him on a cliff. A struggle ensues, and Hyun Soo gets the upper hand. Just as he lifts his knife to inflict a final blow to Hee Sung, Ji Won calls out for him. Hyun Soo stops and begins to question whether or not he’s hallucinating. She convinces him that she’s alive and to drop the knife so he can come to her. He slowly follows her directions and makes his way to her. Unfortunately, just as they’re about to embrace, Hee Sung steals a gun from another police officer and shoots at them. On instinct, Hyun Soo embraces Ji Won to protect her.

It’s gut-wrenching to watch Hyun Soo hesitate as Ji Won desperately tries to convince him she’s alive. Every detail about this scene is meticulously displayed. From the way the hauntingly suspenseful music stops when he drops the knife and switches to a softer score to the beautiful cinematography of Ji Won’s wedding ring and Hyun Soo’s slow steps, you can’t help but revel in this breathtaking scene. This part in particular makes the rest of the scene seem so cruel. The chemistry here between Moon Chae Won and Lee Joon Gi is indescribable.

Here we are at the end of our list ranking all these beautiful moments from the show yet something feels off like someone is missing from this list. Yes you guessed it right. The plot twists and the mystery surrounding Baek Hee Sung was one of the greatest aspects of the show that kept the viewers hooked and left them wanting more.

**The Debauchery of one Baek Hee Sung

Welp, he's a mouthful. Baek Hee Sung is one of the main character and the ultimate antagonist of the show. We were first introduced to him when he was in comatose under the care of his parents. As the narration of the story progressed the mystery surrounding Baek Hee Sung, his backstory started to unravel after he got out of coma as he started to act shady whenever any trouble arises. Arguably one of the most biggest plot twist of the show was when we found out that the accomplice of Do Min Seok was none other than Baek Hee Sung and he was just as equally responsible for the serial killings. After the unfortunate event with him and Do Hyun Soo, he tried to bury Hyun Soo alive when his mom found out about the true nature of his son. Being scared and nervous she stabbed her son which lead him for the next 18 years in coma. After he woke up, he didn't change one bit as he started to tie up the one loose end which was finding and killing off Jeong Mi Seok and frame Hyun Soo for being the accomplice when he framed the murder of his maid which Hee Sung did. Later on we also got to see that it was actually Baek Hee Sung who actually killed Do Min Seok and orchestrated his whole suicide. At the climax of the show we saw the final showdown between Hee Sung and Hyun Soo. Finally the police killed him in an encounter when he shot at Ji Won. Kim Ji Won did a wonderful job portraying a psychopath void of any emotions whatsoever.

So this is it. That's how it ends. Hope you guys had fun reading this and made you guys eager to watch the show again. Let us know your ranking down in the comments. Have an amazing day.
