
After an year without a Google I/O event due to concerns regarding the pandemic, the event is back this year. Earlier this month the Mountain View revealed the dates for the event.
This upcoming event is slated to take place from 18th of May to 20th of May. But unlike every other year, due to public health concerns it'll be an online-only event, free of cost. So here is everything we expect and don't expect to see in Google I/O 2021.

Pixel Watch (Unlikely)

After Google's accusation of Fitbit, we haven't heard much about the company's vision regarding it. So we may atleast get to know some information about Fitbit and they may also reveal some new features coming to WearOS.
Google Apps & Services
You expect Google to announce many updates and new features for its apps and services in the event. Recently, Google Pay received a major overhaul in a few countries. The Tech giant may announce a global release of it in the Keynote since it's now past the Beta testing stage. Google Photos & Google Maps have also received new features like a new video editor and dark mode. We may also get a look at what the company has in store for its AI based visual application, Google Lens.
Pixel Buds A

With the success of their affordable Pixel A line up, Google may finally expand their affordable device line up with an affordable Pixel Buds. Earlier this year some FCC filings hinted at a potential affordable Pixel Buds named 'Pixel Buds A.' We don't know much about it's price but they are rumored to launch during Google I/O this year.

Pixel 5a (Unlikely)

Recently a few images of Google's upcoming Pixel 5a leaked online and it's looks almost identical to it's higher end counterpart. It was previously expected that Pixel 5a would debut in Google I/O but since Google themselves confirmed that the device would come later this year, it seems unlikely that it would be released in this event. We can expect it to launch alongside Pixel 6 later this year, possibly around the month of October. Google also suggested that the device may initially launch only in Japan and U.S. because of the ongoing global chip shortage.
Whitechapel
There are rumors that this year's Pixel flagships and the new Pixel watch may come with Google's in-house custom chipset codenamed "Whitechapel." This will enable Google to reduce the price of their devices since they won't have to buy chipsets from Qualcomm. We might get some update about it in the event.
Google Assistant and Nest Product

Google Assistant is a big priority at Google now. We can expect to see Google showcase some new impressive feature for the assistant. Google isn't expected to announce a lot Nest product this year. However, we may get a look at a new Nest Hello video doorbell. Recently, it was spotted in the Google Home app. It's rumored to have a taller chassis and have an USB-C port on the back instead of an outdated micro-USB port.

As of now that's pretty much all we know we'll get in Google I/O this year. There may or may not be a few surprises down the line. We just have to wait and see. The event will take place from the 18th to 20th of May and it's free for everyone.
