At the start I'll say that I really loved this anime. There are both good and bad aspects of this but overall I loved it.
Plot summary
It's about the earth in distant future where the land is ruined and the world isn't as it was before. Humanity, for their existence, establishes mobile fort called "Plantation". Children grow up here only learning about fighting Humanity's biggest enemy then which are called 'Klaxosaur". In order to fight these monsters the children has to pilot their FranXX to fight these monsters. Among the childrens there, there is a boy named Hiro. He was really smart and capable among them but after a certain time his capability decreases and becomes unable to pilot a FranXX and thinks not piloting it is a ssame as not existing. when these thoughts crowded his minds, he met a mysterious girl Zero Two with two horns on her head.
Personally I don't actually notice what type of genre is the anime, I just watch it cause I like it. At the start and from the plot summary it sure does seem like a action anime cause there's fighting monsters. This Klaxosaur and piloting FranXX is kinda similar to the 2013 film "Pacific Rim". Though Pacific Rim is action and thriller film, Darling in the FranXX on the other hand is a romantic drama anime.
This anime has got me attached to the characters and their behaviors. Along side with Hiro, I related with other characters like Goro and Futoshi with their scenes. If you are into romance anime, then you will cry watching this anime. It has both sweet and bitter moment.
Anime series have both their good and bad aspects, Darling in the FranXX also have them. The story progressed at a nice pace but in the end I felt it was a bit rushed and didn't show other details or missed them. I get it that in a 24 episode anime series somethings are needed to be skipped but the last few episodes rushed. I feel like the last episode itself needs to be unique on its own.
Setting aside all this, for me this was a good anime. I don't watch that much romance animes. So this anime has me stirred up and in love with it. Recommend this anime to your friends if they haven't seen it yet and if you didn't see it yet then go and watch it.
