One Piece Chapter 1037: The Devil Fruit Considered to be a Legend

WARNING: ONE PIECE CHAPTER 1037 SPOILERS!

One Piece's latest chapter 1037 starts to give taste of the much anticipated Luffy vs Kaido fight but that was not the exciting part of this chapter. The chapter ends with the Gorosei, the five Elders of the World Government, discussing about a mysterious Devil Fruit which is thought to be a legend. The chapters ends with a mystery, showing the shadow of a familiar creature.

Devil Fruits are edible fruits that gives immense power to whoever eats it and the power is different in every case, but the person loses the ability to swim. A person cannot have more than one Devil Fruits (Blackbeard being an exception). Practice and experienced users gain higher ability of their power and "awaken" their true potential.

At the end of Chapter 1037, the Gorosei are seen looking into the matter of Wano and ways to capture Nico Robin. They discuss about a Devil Fruit which is "nothing but a legend, even for us," and apparently "hasn't awakened for centuries." One of the Gorosei exclaims, "How else do you explain the World Government giving a specific Devil Fruit a unique name? They were hiding the fruit's true name from the annal's of history?!"

Fans have already started speculating and theories are running wild on the internet about this mysterious Devil Fruit. One of the many theories suggests the fruit to be Kibi Kibi no Mi, currently possessed by Tama. It has the power to all animals and also the Zoan type fruit users. As the chapter ends with Zunesha's shadow lurking on the background. The Giant Elephant itself is a mystery, 1000 years ago, it committed a heinous crime and was condemned to wander the seas in an endless way and only to act upon being ordered to do so. Kibi Kibi no Mi, being able to enslave animals and Zoan type fruit users, could be the fruit talked about by the Gorosei and the previous user of it could be the one ordering Zunesha to wander the seas.

Among other theories, another theory suggests the fruit to be Toki Toki no Mi, a Devil Fruit, the user being able to send people or the user itself to the future, even centuries ahead. It was possessed by Toki, Kozuki Oden's wife, who died 20 years before the present events. Toki came from 800 years in the past, the Void Century, information on which the World Government tries to hide at all possible means. This could be the reason why this Devil Fruit is said to be a legend in the present and is feared by the World Government.

But according to the Gorosei, the World Government has given the Devil Fruit a unique name which could be one we never heard of so far. What is this mysterious Devil Fruit and why are the World Government afraid of it? Considering how Oda likes to tease the fans, it is very unlikely we get more of this mystery in the upcoming chapter.
