Thor Love and Thunder: Set pictures reveal Melissa McCarthy and Sam Neill as Fake Hela and Odin

New set photos have revealed that the theater play we saw in Thor: Ragnarok will return in Thor: Love and Thunder. Not only that, but Matt Damon, hilarious as it is indeed returning just to play the actor who portrayed Loki in the reenactment of Thor: The Dark World.

In late-December, Melissa McCarthy and Ben Falcone shared a jokey audition tape for Taika Waititi's Thor: Love and Thunder. It was very tongue-in-cheek with their audition showing Falcone performing a scene from The Tempest and McCarthy giving it her all using Geraldine Page's The Trip to Bountiful. Many fans thought nothing of it and that, at minimum, these two could have cameos in the Thor: Ragnarok sequel.

Also one of the funniest string of cameos in the entire Marvel Cinematic Universe has to be the play that Tom Hiddleston's Loki put on in Thor: Ragnarok, which included Luke Hemsworth (the brother of Chris Hemsworth) as Thor, Jurassic Park star Sam Neill as Odin, and Matt Damon as Loki.

In an interview at the end of January, Sam Neill actually gave encouraging news of his return, saying that it was reasonably high. Well, it seems like his confidence in his return was not misplaced as Love and Thunder is set to have another stage play performance.

The Daily Mail managed to capture both Melissa McCarthy and her husband, Ben Falcone, on the set of Thor: Love and Thunder with McCarthy dressed up as Cate Blanchett's Hela.

 Footage was also captured that shows the play retelling the moment that Hela returned and confronted the Asgardian pair, Thor and Loki.

 The Daily Mail has also captured new set photos showing the return of Sam Neill as Odin on the set of Thor: Love and Thunder, dressed in the same outfit Anthony Hopkins wore in Thor: Ragnarok.

 The characters of Sam Neill and Matt Damon had a very short screen-time in Thor Ragnarok. These two were the cast of The Tragedy of Loki of Asgard tribute play that Loki put on for himself while he was disguised as the Allfather Odin. Originally thought to be cameos, now these new set photos may mean they will be quite an integral part of the cast. With the New Asgard established, we may get to see such familiar faces like the characters of Melissa McCarthy and Ben Falcone of Asgardians on Earth. To be honest, it will be intriguing to find out what they have on the story and what the plot is based on. 

 Thor: Love and Thunder continues filming in Australia with a theatrical release date of May 6, 2022.
