We are months away from the release of iPhone 13. The lack of a 90 Hz display in iPhone 12 disappointed a lot of people last year. Now according to new reports iPhone 13 may indeed come with LPTO Display with 120 Hz refresh rate.
Earlier this month, a reliable analyst Ming-Chi Kuo said that this year, Apple will use more power-efficient LTPO technology and add 120Hz support to the higher-end models — iPhone 13 Pro and iPhone 13 Pro Max. The analyst also added that the new iPhones may feature significant camera enhancements. It won't still come with a USB-C connector. Rather it will keep the Lightning connector.
According to a new report from The Elec, Apple is indeed planning to adopt this new technology. Samsung is currently the main supplier of OLED screens used in Apple's iPhones. Samsung will also be the one to supply these displays to Apple. According to The Elec, Samsung Display will convert its lineup of OLED displays to LTPO. These are expected to be supplied to Apple sometime later this year.
The new LTPO displays consume less energy compared to normal OLED displays and support variable screen refresh rates, upto 120Hz.
