10 interesting facts that you didn't know about FRIENDS (part 2)


FRIENDS is one of the most popular American sitcom which ends almost a decade ago. But the sitcom is still loved by a large number of people and for good reasons. Today we have brought 10 more unbelievable facts of FRIENDS that are equally as fascinating and can even possibly blow your minds.

1. The Reason Why The Gang Always Got The Central Perk Couch


Many might wonder, how do Joey, Chandler, Ross, Monica, Phoebe and Rachel always gets the legendary orange couch of Central Perk? We do see many customers in the coffee house, yet, no one takes the couch. If you have watched some of the episodes carefully and closely, then you'll notice a reserved sign on the table. The sign is missing in some episodes, but there's no need to leave a 'Reserved' sign for regulars, right?

2. Lisa Kudrow Didn't Know How To Play A Guitar


Some of us really liked the character Phoebe Buffay for her peculiar songs and her weird personality. Well....her personality is the reason Mike Hannigan fell in love with her.  But, did you know that, Lisa Kudrow, the cast who played Phoebe Buffay actually didn't know how to play a guitar. As a Phoebe was a character whose profession was a singer, Lisa Kudrow had to learned a couple of chords. Afterwards she announced she was done with guitar lessons. She decided Phoebe would know only a handful of chords anyway.

3.The White Dog Statue Actually Belonged To Jennifer


Do you remember the white dog statue that Joey bought when he started making money from 'Days Of Our Life'? The famous white dog that gave the audience a good laugh? Well, actually, this dog has a pretty interesting history. A friend of Jennifer gave it to her as a good luck present when she signed up for the series. This renowned dog belonged to none other than Jennifer herself. She gave this dog for the show.

4. Monica Was Pregnant During The Last Season


Lisa Kudrow became pregnant during production and as a result the Phoebe Buffay also became pregnant. The producers decided Phoebe to act as surrogate for her younger brother. But during the last season, Courtney Cox also became pregnant. When she announced her pregnancy, it became much difficult for the screenwriters. According to the plot of the show, Monica and Chandler can't have children so they adapt twins. Despite Courtney  wore baggy clothes throughout the season, in some episodes her growing belly was noticeable.

5. Matthew Perry Struggled Through Addiction During Production Of The Show


Matthew Perry, the cast who played Chandler Bing developed an addiction to alcohol and to ease this he became addicted to a drug named Vicodin. Perry completed a 28-day program in 1997 for Vicodin addiction. He entered rehab in February 2001 for addiction to Vicodin, methadone, amphetamines and alcohol.  That is the reason why Chandler moved to Tulsa in season 9. His recovery once again caused weight fluctuations.

6. In One Episode The Name Of The Entire Cast Was Changed. 


If you watch the credits before the episodes then you'll see that on the first episode of season 6, 'The One After Las Vegas', the producers added "Arquette" to the end of everyone's name  to congratulate the happy couple, David and Courtney. Courtney Cox changed her name to 'Courtney Cox Arquette'. But unfortunately their divorce became finalized in May of 2013.

7. Matthew Perry's Father Appearing In Friends


Do you remember Joshua, one of Rachel's love interest? When Joshua's father appeared on-stage he indeed looked very familiar. You might wonder, "Doesn't he look familiar?" Do you know why? It was because he was none other than Matthew Perry's own father, John Bennet Perry. John Bennet Perry made a guest appearance in the episode 'The One With Rachel's New Dress' of the fourth season.

8.The Magna Doodle Board In Joey And Chandler's Apartment


Ask any true Friends fan about the Magna Doodle board hung on the back of joey and Chandler's front door and watch their eyes glaze over, deep in geeky sitcom ecstasy. This comical board first made it's appearance in episode 18 of season 3(The One With The Hypnosis tape). Throughout the series, this infamous board  carried a lot of funny messages. For instance, when Chandler and Monica confessed that they were dating, a cute drawing of a heart with their initials appeared on the board. In another episode, when Chandler and Joey's apartment was robbed, the thief left a message on the board saying, "Thanks for all you stuff".

9. There Was A Mistake In Joey's rehearsal Dinner


During Ross and Emily's rehearsal dinner, Joey made a toast to the couple. The producers made a slight miscalculation and they admitted their mistake. In the sixth episode of the third season, 'The One With The Flashback', we clearly saw before the end of the episode that Chandler, Monica and Joey entered the bar where they found Ross and Phoebe kissing. That was the first time Joey met Ross. Joey said in his toast that he first met Ross in Central Perk coffee house, but actually they first met in the bar that was later made into the famous coffee house.

10. Estelle And The Nurse During Ben's Birth Is The Same Person

We all know Joey's Agent Estelle, don't we? At the end of the Series she somewhat became a regular character. She did make a good impression in the show as an acting agent. But did you know she was the same nurse that was present during baby Ben's birth. Watch carefully and you'll see that both of the characters have been played by the same cast, June Gable.
