Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 2 improves upon the first Fold

Samsungs new foldable phone is official and it is called the Galaxy Z Fold 2. At Samsung unpacked there were a lot of new phones but the Z Fold 2 was probably the most interesting. Samsung didn't tell much about their Z fold 2 but a lot has been found out about the display, camera, and other features.

Display

On the front when the phone is folded, the display size is 6.2 inches. Open it up and you will have a 7.6-inch display. The 7.6-inch AMOLED dynamic display also has a 120-hertz refresh rate. The foldable display uses ultra-thin glass which is similar to the Z Flip but the version on the Z fold 2 is thinner than a human hair. Samsung says that the display should remain flexible even in high and low temperatures.

Camera

Though there is no official word on the camera specs, it is likely to have the same configuration as the Galaxy Note 20 (Triple camera) which is:
  • Ultra-wide 12MP F2.2
  • Wide-angle 12MP super speed Dual pixel
  • Telephoto 64MP F2.0

Battery and others

For the battery, it has a 4500mah Dual battery just like the original fold. Samsung has also said that the entire design has a reinforced structure for improved durability but we don't know if it indicates water-resisting capabilities or shock and dust resistant capabilities. If it comes with these features then it will be a gamechanger for their foldable line up of phones. The phone comes with USB type C but it has no 3.5mm headphone jack. Samsung also says that this phone will support 5G connectivity everywhere unlike its predecessor which didn't support 5G connectivity everywhere.

Unfortunately, we don't know what kind of processors or how much ram will it come with. We don't know the release date also, but we are looking forward to knowing all these and other cool features of this phone on the launch event of the Galaxy Z Fold 2 on September 1.

Although Samsung has confirmed that the phone is on its way it didn't disclose any pricing, so it is hard to compare it with its predecessors but we would expect it to be pricey. The original fold cost a whopping $1980 for context, and we would expect this device to cost a similar amount or possibly more.
