Google's own processors may be used in Pixels devices as early as 2021

With the increase of the price of Qualcomm chipsets and Apple crushing the processor speed with their chipsets, Google has decided to manufacture their own chipsets to power their Pixel phones and Chromebooks.

According to a report by Axios, Google is developing their own processors apparently codenamed "Whitechapel". It is rumored to be an eight-core ARM processor built using Samsung’s 5-nanometer process. The report also claims the processor could be optimized for improved Google Assistant and machine learning technology.

Google is not completely new to the processor work, as their Pixel devices rock Titan M, security chips. Pixel 4 also had Pixel Neural Core, coprocessor.

Apple's A-series are optimized for their software. Google's own processors will also help Google to ensure the best Android experience Google desires to offer. Google is reportedly working hard as they desire to get it out as early as 2021 with their Pixel 6 line up. This move would be a major blow for Huawei and might shake up the smartphone industry in a big and potentially positive way.

It is looking unlikely that Google would be able to get it out before the end of 2021 as the pandemic as largely affected their smartphone line up. Whether the chipsets arrive in 2021 is yet to be seen but we can hope for the best.
