Loki episode 1 ended with a cliffhanger revealing that the time variant that has gone rogue is actually a Variant of Loki. Episode 2 has aired today with more answers to the questions of how TVA and timeline works and a big revelation.
SPOILER WARNING! IN CASE YOU HAVEN'T WATCHED THE SECOND EPISODE!
The Story-view
The episode starts in Oshkosh, Wisconsin, 1985 with the Loki Variant mind-controlling the commander and killing of the minutemen. The variant takes the commander through a door which looks like the doors the minutemen use for time jumps. Loki is hired by TVA as he starts gaining knowledge on how TVA works and how the missions are completed. In a scene, we get to see five different variants of Loki which surprises Loki. Mobius talks about different powers and abilities of the variants and the different version of Loki had one as Frost Giant Loki, a loki who is the Tour De France winner, a bulky Hulk-like Loki, a bald headed with horns Loki, and a Loki which looks like from ancient Vikings times. Next, in a mission of finding the Variant, Loki tries to selfishly seek information out of TVA which he fails in as Mobius understood his intentions.
Loki researched and finds out they can track his evil variant. Loki and Mobius recahed Pompeii, Italy on 79 AD to see if his experiments work or not. Being successful, Loki with Mobius and minutemen go to the future in 2050 in search of variant. The variant mind controls Hunter B-15 and other people from Roxxcart store in order to talk to Loki. Here we see the variant disagreeing with Loki in many topics which is quite unusual for a being like him/her. Later on, the variant successfully implements the plan with Reset Charge which he/she was collecting as she reveals her true self.
Ending
The Variant reveals herself as Lady Loki, or a female version of Loki. She managed to use TVA tech and the stolen reset charges to engage all of the charges in different timelines resulting in creating a massive multiversal timeline breakdown. Causing the chaos, Lady Loki goes through a portal keeping it open for Loki to enter. Loki escapes through the portal after Lady Loki as Mobius is left betray.
Major Details
When the minutemen went through a portal to 1895, Oshkosh, Wisconsin, a familiar looking person but from the past, talks with them. Compared to others, this being gets quite a few speech for the episode. But she does look familiar, doesn't she? She literally saw people coming out from portals, and these didn't even surprise her. Could that be Agatha Harkness? Well, this isn't actually Kathryn Hahn, but it could be a nod to the character. We saw Agatha Harkness in WandaVision who is a witch. Now, a witch may not get impressed much seeing these magics. So this could be a subtle cameo of the character.
In Mobius and Loki's journey to 2050, they enter Roxxcart which is likely to play as the corporation Roxxon from the comics. Now in the comics, the head of Roxxon actually interacted with Loki as well as created a church on his name. Though Roxxon is not introduced in MCU, there have been details where the name appeared in Iron Man 3. Now, the year Loki visits is 2050, so in further future, Roxxon Corporation might be introduced in wider Marvel Cinematic Universe.
When we first meet Lady Loki, one of her horns is cut in half. This is a direct reference of Agent of Asgard comics where the character had this similar feature in horns. Also, with Lady Loki wearing the horns, it is confirmed that it was Lady Loki who the child in episode 1 meant pointing to the devil's horn. No! It's not Mephisto!
In one of the finale scenes, when the branched timelines started increasing, in a monitor in Ravonna's office showed where and when the branched timelines are forming. Now, the names of the places might blow minds. The branched timelines started forming in Phong Nha (Vietnam), Lisbon (Portugal), Vormir, Thorton (USA), Cookville (USA), Asgard, Rome (Italy), Sakaar (from star Tayo), Barichara (Colombia), Porvoo (Finland), Ego, Titan, New York (USA), Tokyo (Japan), Hala, Kingsport (USA), Xandar, Beijing (China), Madrid (Spain) and also many places, more of which was not revealed. Every date is from the past, except for the one in Vormir which is set in 2301. Now, the years are from what event is still not determined or confirmed.
Final Verdict
Loki episode 2 expands the concept of Time Travel and the sacred timeline even more in a more interesting way. The episode makes "Trust" the main theme of the series which may mainly refer to Loki gaining Mobius's trust on TVA as Loki previously put it, "Not every good person is completely good" foreshadowing the dark side of TVA. The episode ended with a typical Disney+ Marvel episode, just when things started getting interesting.
