What to expect from Apple's 2021 Developer Conference?

Apple's very own Worldwide Developer Conference (WWDC) is right around the corner. We can expect a lot of new software feature announcements in the event including iOS 15. It's not just software though. Apple in the past has revealed new hardware at WWDC, and we think that we may get a few hardware announcements this year as well. Here's everything we expect to see in Apple's WWDC 2021:

iOS 15 and iPadOS 15

Just like every other year, Apple is set to release the preview of its new iOS update in this event. Rumors suggest a new lock screen, changes to notifications, enhanced privacy features, and some Siri improvements.

On the iPad side, Apple is said to finally allow users to place widgets anywhere in the home screen. That's pretty much all we know about it at the moment. There’s typically a beta version for developers released immediately after WWDC, followed by a public beta a few weeks later. The developer and public beta tests continue until the fall, when the new versions of iOS is released to all users.

14-inch and 16-inch MacBook Pros

Leaker Jon Prosser claims that Apple plans to introduce new 14 and 16-inch MacBook Pro models at the Worldwide Developer's Conference this year.

According to rumors, these new Macbooks will rock a fresh new design. The new MacBook Pro is said to come in both 14-inch and 16-inch models. It will reportedly feature a brand new chip that is more powerful than the M1. The chip could feature up to 10 CPU cores (2 high-efficiency and 8 high-performance) and 16 or 32 graphics cores, with a maximum of 64GB of RAM. It will probably be called M1X.

We can expect some other design tweaks like slimmer bezel & more squared edges. There will be four Thunderbolt/USB4 ports and maybe even a return of MagSafe charging. Apple may also include mini LED displays as it does on the 12.9-inch iPad Pro.

High-end Mac mini

Apple is rumored to release an high end Mac mini with their own Silicon. The new Mac mini is said to replace the Intel-powered version which starts at $1,099, and will feature the same new chip (possibly called M1X) that has more cores, more RAM and also more Thunderbolt ports. It’s said to feature a new slimmer design. It will reportedly come with a magnetic power connector just like the one on the new 24-inch iMac.

macOS 12, tvOS 15

Apple has started naming newer versions of macOS based on California landmarks. We got macOS Big Sur the previous year. Aside for that we don't know what new features we would get in this update.

Apple's very own tvOS is also supposed to get an update. Apple has been trying to push Apple Arcade a lot so we can expect some new gaming features in the new update. We can probably expect an expansion of Apple Fitness and better integration with other HomeKit devicea.

watchOS 8

The Apple Watch is probably still the best Smartwatch in the market for good reasons. Apple Watch is also supposed to get an updated software in form of watchOS 8. Apple is all-in on making Apple Watch a go to health and fitness device for general consumers, so you certainly expect more features in those areas.

We can expect to know more about Apple Arcade and upcoming Apple TV shows in WWDC. Apple's WWDC will take place from June 7-11.
