New Spider-Man 3 fan art has emerged online that shows Andrew Garfield's take on the superhero in the black Symbiote suit. The untitled upcoming MCU film will be the third in their Spider-Man series lead by Tom Holland, following Spider-Man: Homecoming and Spider-Man: Far From Home. With the next slate of the studio's films reportedly focusing on a Multiverse angle, Garfield's Spider-Man returning is a possibility, as well as the Black Symbiote Suit, which we saw in 2007's Spider-Man 3.
It's recently been confirmed that Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness will connect it's narrative to the upcoming Spider-Man 3, a link that has long been rumored for both the MCU phase 4 films. For the web-slinger, this opens up the possibility of past versions of the character joining together through the Multiverse set up in the series so far. Not only could it see Garfield's appearance, but Toby Maguire's too, the actor behind the Spider-Man character from 2002-2007 in the Sam Raimi film trilogy. The third film in that trilogy saw Venom as the main villain, an alien Symbiote that temporarily took control over Spider-Man. This element is yet to be explored in the MCU, and could surface as a result of a chaotic multiverse.
Speculation as to what will actually happen in the MCU's Spider-Man 3 is currently thriving and booming, and how it will incorporate Garfield's iteration and past storylines such as the black Symbiote suit. A lot of buzz has surrounded the development of this latest Spider-Man film, which is set for release next year. It was recently reported that Garfield is actually in talks to appear in the film along with Maguire, as well as Emma Stone as Gwen Stacey, Kirstin Dunst as Mary Jane Watson, Jamie Foxx as Electro, and other supporting characters from both Spider-Man eras.
It seems that the film is going for a similar structure to that of Spider-Man: Into The Spider-Verse, the highly successful Sony Pictures animated feature that brought together many different iterations of the superhero from various timelines. While Marvel or Disney have yet to confirm these rumors for Spider-Man 3, these brilliant pieces of fan art help fans imagine what the wall-crawler's next movie could look like. One exciting idea is seeing the Venom Symbiote return, a staple comic storyline that hasn't yet appeared in the MCU. Having only appeared on the big screen in Raimi's Spider-Man 3 and the unrelated Venom Sony film, Marvel's upcoming Spider-Man 3 film could vastly improve on its controversial cinematic past.
