Starting today, you can link your Netflix subscription with Google Home or Assistant app to watch its content on your Google Nest-branded smart display. You can also call out to the Google Assistant to play a particular show, or just say “Hey Google, open Netflix.” You can then scroll through the interface manually via the touchscreen on both Nest Hub models.
Google has also implemented a gesture for Netflix on the Nest Hub Max. You can pause or resume playback by looking at the display and holding up your hand thanks to the camera in Nest Hub Max. It should be noted that the gestures don't work on the smaller Nest Hub due to the lack of a camera.
Google also confirmed that you will be able to start watching a Netflix video on your iOS or Android phone, then hit the Cast button on the Netflix app to stream that video on your TV.
Netflix joins other streaming services like YouTube, as well as Hulu, CBS All Access and Sling TV that are only supported in Google's Nest Hub and Nest Hub Max. In addition, users can “cast” streaming video to the Google Nest devices using mobile apps for services including Disney Plus,HBO Max and others. This gives Google a massive edge above Amazon's smart display offerings.
Watching content in a 7 or 10 inch screen isn't as immersive as watching on TV or even in a smartphone. But it is always better to have an option.
